Fairland teen dies in wreck on way home

NEWS staff report
A 16-year-old Fairland girl died Wednesday night after she was thrown from her vehicle in a one-car crash.
Jamie J. Case, 6982 Buck Creek Shades, died at the scene of the accident south of Pleasant View, according to Shelby County Coroner Shelley Snyder.
Snyder said Case may have died from a broken neck.  An autopsy has been scheduled at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Case was driving southbound on County Road 850W when she lost control of her 1991 Pontiac Grand Am about two miles from her home, said Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy David Tilford.  The vehicle went off the west side of the road, striking some heavy brush and rolled over, he said.

Case, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle into an overgrown field.  She was pinned by the wreckage, Tilford said.
The sheriff's department received a report of the accident at 10:42 p.m. Methodist Hospital's Lifeline helicopter was called to the scene, but both helicopters in service were responding to other calls at the time of Case's accident, according to sheriff's department records.
Case was on her way home when the accident occurred, Tilford said.   Authorities do not know why Case lost control of the car, he said.
She was the daughter of Mark and Jeanette Case.  Case would have been a senior at Triton Central High School in the fall.
